Whenever we want to save the trouble of deciding where to go for dinner or are too tired to decide, we go to Naivedyam. Though it has become a sort of a ‘quick fix’ place for us, the restaurant does have a few good items worth trying. It happens to be one of the two restaurants for South Indian food in Gurgaon, the other being Coco-Palms.
If you go for dinner especially on weekends you might have to wait for almost 45 minutes. So make sure to have an early dinner there at 7.30.
You get a welcome drink of flavored buttermilk/rasam. Though the Management staff is from Kerala they have a good assortment of dishes from most parts of South India. Some items that you may want to try are Chow Chow bhath, Malabar Parotta with Kurma, Fried idlis though they didn’t taste good with Kurma, Holige (Karnataka Puran poli) and the Mysore Masala Dosa. They have a long list of Dosas and Utthapams to choose from.
They also serve a thaali with too much food- 5 puris, rice, curries, veggies, sweet, pappad, and unless you have a big appetite you might not be able to finish it.
They give an unlimited supply of sambar and coconut chutney for all dishes. There isn’t much of a variety for desserts. It’s basically a close equivalent of a Mumbai Udipi restaurant- no frill and prompt service. One of the few places to go for South Indian food lovers and it’s also cheaper than its competitor, Coco- Palms. The bill for two comes to around Rs 250.
