Bread Bhajiyas

Though this is almost the end of the Monsoon, Sunday morning had me craving for the favorite Monsoon snack, bhajiyas or bhaji. Having run out of vegetables and having just half a loaf of bread, I thought why not make bread bhajiyas to bid the monsoon an appropriate farewell!! The ginger garlic paste that I added to the batter gave it a distinct taste. Try this out on a relaxed, lazy day, dip it in ketchup and savor it with a group of friends.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices of bread
  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Salt
  • 1 pinch of turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 2 cups oil for deep frying
  • Water for the batter

Method:

  • Make a batter of medium consistency with all the above ingredients except oil & bread.
  • Slice the bread diagonally so that they form triangles.
  • In a pan, heat the oil.
  • Dip each triangle of bread in the batter and fry both sides till they are golden brown
  • Serve hot with ketchup

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Serves: 2
