This article is a love story, about a couple whose bonding love life, till today, impresses me . It unravelled to me the depths of sacrifice and commitment. This couple, married now for almost 34 years, are our close family friends. Their love story is one that I love listening to; just to watch that twinkle in their eyes and the way her cheeks blush even today. Why am I bringing in this story when I always write about food?!! Well theirs, in a way, was a relationship which grew over a plateful of food.
Uncle (not very good looking) and aunty (a beauty, I must say), in their youth, were neighbours. Whose families were very close friends and had dreams of getting their children married to each other. While, the difficult part of it was that aunty always wanted to become a Corporate woman and Uncle wanted to become a Chef! With these extreme ideals and goals they never thought marriage was on their cards. Then, there came a day when like every guy in his youth, uncle wanted to impress aunty with what he thought he was best at –Cooking. And so he prepared for her the most delicious dish with such love and confidence that he will win her heart. He set up a romantic table for two, with the delicious spread. What more! aunty was ever so touched by his sincere gesture and that was the take off , to their road of oneness.
Uncle tells me “When you feed someone with love in your heart and the person ends up satiated and happy, you receive love in return.” He also adds with a quick naughty wink that “Men who cook attract more women than those who pump iron and if anyone with looks like mine could attract such a beautiful woman, and then it’s got to be the food connection.” Aunty blushing adds “I knew ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ but I didn’t know it could work the other way round too!”
Today Uncle runs a few successful chain of restaurants in town and aunty does the interior designing and the over all management of the restaurants! –Food helped bond in love, attract a beautiful woman and spiced up life too!!
So news for all you men out there, the best way to impress your woman is to showcase artfully a trick or two from a debonair chef’s hat or just a simple recipe from your heart like this one……
