Kalathu Podi is a dry powder made of roasted lentils and is mixed with hot rice and gingili oil and relished. You could call it a version of a Dry Chutney. It’s a savior on days when you are too tired to cook and also for people staying away from home and who do not cook and have little access to good food. It’s nutritious too being made of lentils. The Kalathu Podi is quite common in South Indian households though it might be known by different names in different states and ingredients too may vary. This is a version from Kerala and made by my Grandma.
