It’s so true that necessity is the mother of invention and it cannot be truer than in the kitchen. My husband called a few days back in the afternoon saying he would come home for lunch. I had finished mine already and I had just around 20 minutes before he was to arrive. I rummaged the refrigerator and luckily found a solitary raw banana. That was the only vegetable left along with a pack of frozen peas that I always keep in stock. I put these together with rice and it turned out awesome.
Raw Banana and Peas Rice
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice
- 2 raw bananas
- 1 cup of peas
- Salt to taste
- Oil
- Turmeric powder
- Red Chili powder
- Mustard seeds
- ½ Lemon
Method:
- Cook the rice with a little salt and keep it aside
- In a pan pour a little oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and let the mustard crackle
- Add the chopped raw banana and peas
- Add salt, turmeric and chili powder
- Cook till the raw banana becomes crisp.
- Add the cooked rice and mix thoroughly
- Squeeze half a lemon and again mix
Serve hot
