Feeling lonely! Says who? Munch one of these and you’ll see how gloom vanishes. Some one was right: Ask not what’s happening in this world, ask what’s there to eat. This was a line used in a joke against me! Seems like you just figured how much I like to eat.
For the buns
- All purpose flour: 2 ¼th cup
- Yeast: 1/ teaspoon
- Salt: 1/4th teaspoon
- Sugar: ½ teaspoon
- Eggs: 1 + 1 (1 for egg wash)
- Butter: ½ cup
- Milk: ¾th cup
For the custard
- You can use custard powder or from scratch. We used packaged custard powder. For the custard, just follow the instruction or read it here:
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4th cup sugar
- 2tbsp custard powder
Procedure:
For the Custard
Boil the milk and sugar to 3/4th. Dissolve the custard powder in 1/3rd cup of milk and while whisking the hot milk, pour in the custard milk mixture. Cook for another 10 minutes and let cool.
For buns
In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients and mix it well with egg, butter and milk in a blender or a processor. Take the dough out when done and knead it lightly for few minutes on a floured surface. Leave it in a glass bowl and cover it with a tea towel in a warm place to rise. This should take about an hour.
When the dough has risen, punch out the air and on a floured surface place the dough. Cut 8 pieces from it and roll it into little balls. Roll out the balls into circles with a rolling pin and spoon your custard in the center. Close the dough (see) and let it rise.
After the buns have risen, coat them with egg wash and bake at 190 degree centigrade for 15 minutes. Take them out when golden brown.
